“
I believe compassionate care starts with understanding the person behind the symptoms, including their experiences, strengths, and hopes. I strive to help every patient feel heard, respected, and supported throughout their care.

Carole Graves is a registered nurse currently pursuing a Doctor of Nursing Practice in the Family Nurse Practitioner program at Columbia University and a Master of Science in Psychology at California Southern University. Her background spans nursing, behavioral health leadership, crisis advocacy, biomedical research, and therapeutic arts, informing her understanding of the connections between physical health and psychological well-being.
Carole earned her Master of Nursing from Emory University, graduating summa cum laude with a 4.0 GPA. Her clinical education included inpatient psychiatric nursing at Peachford Hospital, where she gained experience in mental health assessment, therapeutic groups, crisis intervention, and safety planning. Her community nursing work in the Bronx and advanced practice clinical training at Columbia University have further strengthened her commitment to accessible, coordinated care that considers the whole person.
Before becoming a nurse, Carole held leadership and care coordination roles with Vinfen, Eliot Community Human Services, and Seven Hills Foundation, supporting individuals with psychiatric conditions, developmental disabilities, and complex health needs. As a medical clinical advocate with Health Imperatives, she provided emergency department crisis counseling, survivor advocacy, and safety planning. These experiences shaped her commitment to trauma-informed care and her understanding of how relationships, environment, and access to support influence recovery.
Her research interests include trauma, depression, and the psychological effects of serious illness. She coauthored the published narrative review The Inherited Scars: How Ancestral Trauma Echoes in the Mental Health of Descendants. Her current research includes manuscripts in preparation examining sleep and circadian-based interventions for major depressive disorder and outcomes following pediatric intensive care unit delirium. Her earlier biomedical research also contributed to publications in Cancer Research and the International Journal of Cancer.
Carole also holds master's degrees in music and business administration and founded Legato Music Inc./Healing Muses Collaborative, an organization bringing therapeutic arts programming into hospitals, clinics, and long-term care settings. This work continues to shape her appreciation for the role of creativity, connection, and meaningful experiences in overall well-being.
In her nursing practice, Carole combines scientific curiosity with compassionate care, attentive listening, and respect for each patient's individual needs and goals.
