Who Might Not Be Eligible for Ketamine Treatment?
While ketamine is generally very safe, it may not be appropriate for everyone. There are some medical and psychological conditions that may make ketamine therapy less suitable. These include uncontrolled hypertension, unstable cardiovascular disease, poorly managed hyperthyroidism, and severe sleep apnea. On the mental health side, individuals with a history of psychosis, recent manic episodes, active substance or alcohol use may not be a good fit. Those with extensive trauma may also need more preparation before engaging in KAP. We take care to assess each client thoroughly to ensure that ketamine therapy is offered safely and appropriately.
